A man sits on a stool in a bombed out building with his head down, sleeping. He is surrounded with visions of his dream himself as a boy with his mother, himself flying, and magical figures who influence his life. A young girl in a ballerina costume stands looking up to him saying, Wake up Daddy; Dance with me.

Lisa Wines: "I found the image of the man on the stool and that was the beginning. I felt he was physically powerful, yet downcast. I decided he was sleeping and dreaming. I surrounded him with images of himself and magical figures that influence him. I wrote a poem where he explains his dream. The poem is printed on canvas to hang beside the piece."

I sit asleep in the ruins of my life, amidst piles of broken bricks,
And shards of toil unrewarded.
I dream of what could have been, of what could be.

My redeemer hovers above, cradling my broken dreams.
They are tired from loss & betrayal.
But they dream of what could have been, what still could be.

My body soars in glorious flight, above it all.
My blasted & crumbling past does not hinder me.
I am what could have been. I am what could be.

I extend my hand to the Moirai,
The three Fates who spin the threads of my destiny.
They answer in unison,
You are what could have been. You are what still could be.
 
I’m serenaded by voices of the past.
Plaintive calls to my forgotten self.
Songs that speak of my future.
Songs of what could have been. What could be.

A portrait of my mother and I, her gentle hand on my head.
I gaze down upon what could have been.
She tells me what I could be.

My father stares from a broken window,
Shattered from his own strife & grief.
He reminds me of what I could have been, what still might be.

Then from the mist of my dream,
I am awakened by the soft voice of my child, saying,
"Daddy wake up, dance with me.”
She is what could have been. She is what could be.
